Seeking salvation in the world
There’s a tendency that nearly everyone has. The tendency is to look to the world for well-being and to long for worldly circumstances. Watch your thinking and see how much of it is desiring for some worldly circumstance to be in place — more money or more health or more friends or more of something else, or perhaps a different something else than you have now. We want our world to change and if it did change then we would be happy. What this comes down to is, salvation comes from the world. I called it a tendency previously but perhaps a better descriptive is to call it a conviction, a universal certainty that good comes from the world. This extends into spirituality and religion as well.
How much of religious or spiritual practice is aimed at having a better worldly existence? If we worship the right way or follow the right spiritual practices and principles then we will live a comfortable and happy life in the world.
