The case against sin
I once read a blog posting that I took some issue with. It was published by a Christian organization and was very critical of metaphysical or new age perspectives, and it specifically called out the belief that sin is not real. This posting insisted that sin is real and that each of us are sinners in need of redemption. It’s pretty well established among Christian denominations that God created humankind. If that is so, if God created humans, and humans are sinners, then God created sinners. If God created sinners then God failed in creation somehow. I’m guessing the organization that published this blog posting wouldn’t agree with my perspective but is there a significant flaw in my logic? The response might be, the sinner is responsible for their sin not God. If every person is a sinner, as this posting claimed, then sin is a power over people that they can do nothing about and so shouldn’t be held responsible for — otherwise how could everyone be afflicted with it?
